Guten morgen!
So, my days have been really full so far, what with the school year ending, exams, end of year requirements, etc. Fitting in at least 30 minutes per day to study German hasn't been easy but I've managed to do it. The way they use their verbs can be tricky, but other than that there seem to be a lot of similarities to the English langage. Remembering the vocabulary and verb conjugations requires work, though. Ive also been reading up on some of the places that I hope we get to visit. I borrowed a wonderful book on Dachau from my co-worker (who deserves a really nice gift from Germany). When I gain some confidence, perhaps I'll make a post completely in German and someone out there can correct my grammar!

Getting started
Where ever I go, I try to learn as much of the language as possible, so step one for me is learning German. Luckily I have two co-workers who have lived in Germany, and one of them has been kind enough to lend me some language software and a phrase book. I also always try to take advice from people who have been there before, so I've started perusing blogs of past Summer Fellows, and checking out some of the places they visited while in Germany. Today I'm heading to the bookstore to find books about the country. Abschied for now!

Hallo to Germany!
Today I received the fabulous news that I was selected as a summer fellow for the Goethe-Institut's Trans-Atlantic Outreach Program to Germany! I leave on July 5th, so over the next two months I will be updating this blog regularly with my preparations. During the two week trip I will share (probably over- share!) my experiences in Germany.
